I decided to start this blog because I want more horse people to get out in the back country and make use of the awesome DOC tracks. Also to support the work carried out by Pete Hurst, Horse Trails South Trust and Hamner Springs Horse Riders. They have opened up so many trails on public land for us horse trekkers to use, installing signs, paddocks and horse gates to facilitate access. Also lobbying DOC to recognize horse riders as a user group of public backcountry land. If you enjoy a bit of adventure and want to get off 4wd tracks try some of these horse routes.
